India’s 58th Republic Day

An impressive State level parade in Delhi, capital of India, marked the 58th Republic Day celebrations on Friday with Russian President Vladimir Putin as the guest of honor.
Russian President, Vladimir Putin is in attendance on the occasion of Republic day and has attended grand parade in Delhi.

Several deals have been finalized during putin’s visit including the Russian construction of four nuclear power reactors in India.
The parade of Delhi exhibits India’s military power and cultural traditions and marks the day India became a republic in 1950.

Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh began the celebrations by laying a floral circlet at the Amar Jawan Jyoti - Martyr’s Memorial - near Delhi’s well-known signpost India Gate.
The parade started with the playing of the Indian national anthem and a gun salute for presidents Kalam and Putin.
On the Republic Day, the security in the city was tight with more than 15,000 police and security employees deployed in different places.

Approximately 400-armed commandoes of the Delhi Police were located along the parade way from Vijay Chowk to Red Fort while about 15,000 Delhi Police and Army personnel were positioned across the capital.
On Thursday , 25th January Delhi police arrested a Lashkar-e-Taiba operative, Iftikhar Alam, with approximately 2.5 kg of RDX, two detonators and a timer stand near the Metro station in Seelampur in the capital.
