Republic Day celebrated by Indians in China
26 January in Beijing, 58th republic day of India has been celebrated by the Indian community with patriotic enthusiasm. India’s Ambassador to China Nirupama Rao unfurled the national flag at the Indian embassy.
‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ slogan was followed. President of the Janata Party Subramanian Swamy was also present on this event. Ambassador Nirupama Rao read out the message of President of India A P J Abdul Kalam and several Indians have listened it.
Yesterday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Jiang Yu described India as a “cooperative partner.”
“China has regarded India as an important cooperative partner,” she said, adding that Beijing regarded Sino-Indian relations as an important part of China’s relations with foreign relations last year when the two countries celebrated 2006 as the ‘Year of India-China Friendship.’
The purpose also featured, for the first time, a chorus of patriotic songs personally prepared by a group of the Indian community.
In the evening, the Indian Association in Shanghai is organizing an assembly over dinner for the Indian community.
The Republic Day parade is also planned to be displayed in the route of the evening, the organizers said.
