India an ideal democracy: Pak diplomat in US

Mahmud Ali Durrani, Pakistan’s envoy to the US has called India as ideal modern country and a role model of democracy and economic development. He said this during his interview in USA Today. He recognized the growth story showed by India that is being appreciated worldwide. In the same interview, he also commented Pakistani nuclear scientist A Q Khan that khan and said Pakistan would have strung him from the tallest tree.
He later accepted Pakistani people watching Indian saga with a greater difference and do compare Pakistan’s growth with India. He accepted that India has become a role model for its better democratic structure and its sustainability. At the same time, India has showed its hunger for the development and it has also become the role model country in economic development. However, he said that on the question of a secular state, India has fallen off. It can be rated as a role model yet.
He was hopeful that one day Pakistan would beat India in democracy and economic development both because Indians and Pakistanis are similar people. According to him, the basic difference was that India had good destiny that a narrow family ruled the country for 30 years with great determination for development.
On the other hand, Pakistan was not so lucky and it had failed to develop a better democratic structure and a well-developed political leadership. He expressed the hope that Pakistan would have been the same because both India and Pakistanis are very similar in nature.
