The Chattisgarh police has shown the power of khakis to the villagers of Ambikapur, when they were protesting after the death of a villager and local businessman Vijay Deonath.

The villagers were saying that he was murdered and the police have their own theory that the man died in an accident. In the protest of the police theory and to demand the culprits, the villagers had blocked the Ambikapur- Banaras National Highway 78 at Ajaib Nagar, 525 kms from Raipur.

Then the police started showing the cruelty and started brutal lathicharge on villagers. They even fired in the air to disperse the violent crowd. Police started beating the villagers black and blues to disperse the mob.

The police went on rampage and heartlessly beaten men, women were left crying and crawling. The police had even no mercy for the old men and they were kicked in the face and were pulled by hair. The protest turned violent and left 59 persons injured including 35 policemen also.

Now, the state government has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the matter and a police inspector, Mr Ramakant Sharma, town Inspector of Surajpur, has been received a suspension letter in the matter.

On the other hand, the incident has also taken political colour as the Congress party has demandedto take action against the senior police officials of Sarguja district. They have put a question forward that an Inspector alone cannot be blamed for such a horrible act.
