Kalam: Rural healthcare needs better concentration

The President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam is known as the person who believes to do unconventional things. He enjoys great popularity among the young Indians because of his new and innovative ideas for the development of India. This time, he became the teacher of the postgraduate doctors in Rohtak.
Kalam promoted a 5-point vision for the medical fraternity to serve the society at large. He said it during his address at the convocation of the B D Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Rohtak, Haryana. He said the doctors to give better healthcare to at least 20 rural patients per year.
He said that the doctors should take up rural health care as a challenge. 20 rural patients a year should get treatment at minimum rates by the doctors. During his speech, he told the doctors that the medical fraternity should work to improve the standard of rural healthcare. Rural patients, who cannot afford better medicare, should get it and doctors should work in this direction.
He also said that there is a need to develop the primary health centres (PHCs) in all states across India. The doctors should also concentrate on various fields of medical research in the country to fight with fatal diseases such as HIV/AIDS.
