No need of CBI probe in Sohrabuddin’s fake encounter case: SC

Thursday, May 17th, 2007

The Supreme Court has rejected the plea filed asking for the CBI inquiry in the fake encounter case in Gujarat. It was a big relief for the Gujarat government as the state government had strongly rejected the demand for the CBI probe in this case.Â

The SC division bench of Justices Tarun Chaterjee and P K Balasubramanyam said Geeta Johri to report directly to the court. The apex court has also granted Geeta Johri a complete autonomy to perform her duty without any pressure. She would not even take any instructions from the state DGP in this investigation as per the order of the court.

Further, the SC bench said that the court would personally monitor the probe. The court has given Johri time to submit the final report till July 3rd , and the date for next hearing is fixed on July 16.

The SC’s rejection for the CBI probe is a setback for the central government that had urged for the CIB probe. While, the state government had strongly opposed the CBI investigation by saying that CID investigation is in its final stage and there is no need for CBI probe in this case.

Rahul Gandhi bowled on 1st ball, party still giving him man of the match

Thursday, May 17th, 2007

 Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi, the young man who had been declared as the man for the future by non other than prime minister of India just before Uttar Pradesh election. After the political debacle in UP congress still believe so. The Congress party showed poor performance in the UP assembly election despite of Rahul Gandhi’s continuous road shows. But the shows could not be transformed in votes for the party. The question is clear, where the Charisma has gone?

Rahul told media, in his first meet with press, that the root cause behind the defeat was the oraganisation problem within the party. Congress has weak party structure in the state. The party needs to re-build organizational structure as well as to boost the party workers in the state. He said further that this is a process that the party is going to work at.

Perhaps, Rahul has got a taste of Indian politics in his early days in politics that real politics has nothing to do with charismatic family back ground. But, this is the party that still believes in ‘Gandhi’s charisma’ and still showing its believe in Rahul Gandhi. Rahul has to learn so many things regarding the political structure of India and the other important factors such as social economic condition of the country and most importantly voters’ mind.

Rahul is an urban guy, who loves to go wimpy even during election campaigns. He has to learn a lot to fight with biggies of Indian politics. The legacy of Nehru Gandhi family is old now. India has been entered in 21st century and people need development, the legacy cannot give you votes, but still he can attract peoples because he has a charming face.

Brahmin-Dalit ‘Maya’ takes Uttar Pradesh for 5 years

Saturday, May 12th, 2007

The Uttar Pradesh election has been ended and the BSP has registered a thumping victory by winning 206 assembly seats in 402-seat UP assembly. BSP would form a single party government in the state after 14 years of coalition governments.

BSP of 2002 was famous for shouting ‘Tilak, Tarazu aur Talwar, Inko maaro jutey chaar’. The same BSP in 2007 election was chanting as Tilak, Tarazu aur Talwar, Inko pujo barambaar. BSP Supremo Mayawati’s mind has been revolutionized by the man, who literally has changed the political equation in UP. The man behind the BSP’s policy change is none other than Satish Chandra Mishra, an advocate by profession and a Brahmin by caste.

The BSP had formed the ‘Bhaichara Banao Samiti, Brahmin Samaj, BSP,’ in the 403 assembly constituencies and gathered Brahmins with dalits. Every samiti has 400 members, 300 Brahmins and 100 Dalits, with a Brahmin chairman and Dalit general secretary. Mayawati had shouted on June 9, 2005 in the Brahmin rally as ‘Haathi nahin Ganesh hain, Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh hain’. That rally was a turning point of BSP’s ideology from dalit politics to Brahmin-dalit politics and finally put Mayawati in power for full term.

Tamil Nadu becomes Battleground for political legacy, This is Indian democracy

Thursday, May 10th, 2007

India is a democratic country. People choose and elect their representatives to rule over them. Some political leaders, better say them people born with silver spoon in their mouth, come directly at the high-level position in their party because they enjoys close relation with party’s top leaders. They can be anyone like sons, daughters, wife, husbands or any other relatives of that top leader.

Indian politics has become the home of relatives. One may find, if we have a look on this angle of the story, that one family controls or has controlled the state politics in different states. Erstwhile RJD rule in Bihar and present DMK rule in Tamil Nadu are some examples of this kind of rules and leaders. Most surprising thing is that It is being done in the name of democracy in Indian politics.

The attack on Tamil daily ‘Dinakaran’ by the supporters of Tamil Nadu Karunanidhi’s son M K Azhagiri has showed that a war for political legacy is going on in Tamil Nadu. Dinakarran had revealed that people favor Karunanidhi’s other son Stalin as his successor more than his other son M K Azhagiri.

It was more than enough to spark anger in supporters of M K Azhagiri. The battle for the succession has geared up in the state and it resulted in the violence at Dinakaran office that left three people dead. Further, CM has ordered for CBI inquiry in the Wednesday violence happened in the Dinakaran office in Madurai.

Rise and fall of AK 47 in Bihar, RJD MP Shahabu gets life term

Thursday, May 10th, 2007

He came, He saw, He conquered and finally he found him behind the bar. I am talking about Shahabuddin, who happens to be a criminal turned MP, who recently awarded life term by a special court in Siwan. The court of Additional District and Sessions judge Gyaneshwar Prasad Srivastava has sentenced him rigorous life imprisonment for the kidnapping and murder of CPI (ML) worker Chhotelal Gupta in 1999.

This is the impact of the change of political scenario in Bihar that the charge sheet was framed in 2004 and in 2007 court has passed the sentence to him. However, a CBI case against him in the connection of the murder of former JNU President Chandrasekhar is still pending.

RJD is feeling the pressure from Congress and other parties to expel Shahabuddin from the party. On the other hand, RJD leader Abdul Siddiqui said during a press conference in Patna that the government is actually trying to eliminate’ Shahabuddin in jail. He gave the example of recent clash in jail after the court’s verdict in which anti-Shahabuddin group stabbed a so-called Shahabuddin supporter inside the jail.

Shahabu ran the parallel administration in Siwan for more than ten years. He had played a role of kingmaker when Nitish had taken oath for CM’s post and resigned for not having majority to give way to Rabri Devi. Shahabuddin had controlled many MLAs to support RJD at that time. Now, the same man is spending time behind bars and his supporters are being attacked in front of his eyes in Siwan jail. This is the real rise and fall of a Robinhood…
